Traveling with Kids

Traveling with Kids

Traveling with a baby/toddler sucks. No matter how prepared you are — it is super stressful, but after 4 international flights and 6 domestic flights with a baby (half of which I was on my own) I would like to think I am pretty good at it. Whatever you do, try not to overpack your carryon. When you pack too much you waste SO MUCH TIME digging through it, you can never actually find anything, and honestly – you’re not going to use half of that stuff. They have water bottles in the airports, order a cheese plate on the airplane, and I promise you, your kid will not go through 15 diapers during your 2 hour flight. Pro diaper tip — buy them when you get to where you are going/ Amazon prime them to your final destination. Don’t waste suitcase space on diapers. I have narrowed down the list of items that you SHOULD pack to make traveling a little bit less stressful.

Is “Dad-Guilt” Even A Thing?

Is “Dad-Guilt” Even A Thing?

Yesterday, Micheal and I agreed to disagree (JK we didn’t even agree on that). It was the “2nd to last football game of the year” **eye roll**  and he wanted to go meet his friends at the bar to watch it. After a few minutes of good ol’ healthy arguing about why he should stay home and hang out with us on the only day of the week that we both had off — he reluctantly decided to watch it at home. By reluctantly, I mean he then sat on the couch for both football games with a crappy attitude (THAT’S THE ENTIRE DAY for anyone that needed clarification on how long two football games last). Pouting husband on the couch = probably more annoying than if he had just gone to the bar to watch the game.

Children’s Museum/ Anxiety

Children’s Museum/ Anxiety

Yesterday, I took Thomas to the Kohl’s Children’s Museum in Glenview. I had planned on writing a whole cutesy blog post about our experience but then I realized that nobody really cares about my “review” of the different Children Museum exhibits (even the people that are supporting this adventure). Instead,  I decided that it would be more fun (ha) to talk about the anxiety that consumes my life and why actually going somewhere on the weekend with a toddler was such a big deal.

Toddler Bed

Toddler Bed

Hola! If you are not a mom and/or do not have a toddler just stop right here. This will be the most boring thing you have ever read.

The one person that is left (Hi Alicia). LET ME TELL YOU about this bed situation

Let me start by admitting that I KNOW we did not have the best approach to Thomas’ sleep training. We both work full time, so by the time we get home we have less than two hours to spend with our kid — doesn’t exactly make you feel good about putting him in a crib and listening to him “cry it out”.
